"Official" WDW Pal Mickey Attire - A Review |
Pin Trading Costume: Vest and pin bag only (The shorts, shoes, t-shirt and socks pictured above are not included.). I am very disappointed that the nice looking pin trading vest has "fake" buttons and button holes. There is no way to fasten the vest, so it hangs open, revealing whatever he has on underneath it. They could have and should have had it fasten with at least velcro, but I guess this was a cost-saving measure. The pin bag is another problem. The strap, although it fastens with velcro, is too short to hang "across" an opposite shoulder, yet too long when hanging on the shoulder where you place the bag. Also, they truly did design this for "kids." The attractive pin bag/pouch has only a plush "pillow" attached inside it, with what appears to be iron-on "fake pins" of Minnie, Stitch, Goofy and Donald.
Safari Costume: Hat, vest/shirt combo and binoculars only (The shorts and shoes pictured above are not included.). The vest looks nice from the front or back. There is a shirt attached to the vest. The shirt fastens with velcro. the vest itself has the "fake buttons and button holes" and there is nothing to hold it closed. The hat and binoculars are plush, not hard. The hat has a chin cord. The binoculars have a strap with velcro. As with the pin trading costume, you may have to put the strap underneath the vest to hold it on his shoulder, or you can hang it around his neck as you would real binoculars, but that will cover up much of his vest. This outfit is more functonal than the pin trading costume, but they still seemed to skimp on material and size.
Pal Mickey Tourist Costume: T-shirt, cap, waist bag and plush camera (Shoes and socks pictured above are not included.). This is a cute outfit and will likely be the most popular due to the Mickey Mouse Club t-shirt and "Walt Disney World" cap. The cap can be difficult to put on him, as the ear holes are only big enough for the narrow base of his ears so you have to "push and fold" his ears to get them through the tiny slits. I like the shirt, but again they skimped on sizing. I think it would be better to be a bit longer so it wouldn't ride up so much. The waistpack unzips, so you could put something very tiny in there. The "plush" camera, like the binoculars of the safari outfit, could have been made to look more real. I might have him carry the camera from his Build-a-Bear outfit instead (plastic instead of plush).

Rain Poncho: Cute, but - No protection for his ears, face, and that nose with the electronic sensor in it, not to mention his hands which also have electronics. What were they thinking? I am also concerned about the durability of this costume. The only good thing I can say (besides it being "cute"), is that the poncho has a slit in the back to attach the clip or carrying lanyard. That's the only advantage I can see over the Build-A-Bear Workshop raincoat.
